Uncool

Journalism faculty who try too hard to be the coolest, trendiest dudes on the campus are bound to run into problems.

The best, most honorable deeds, after all, don't go unpunished.

And there is a point of diminishing return on investment when it comes to some students.

I've been at this teaching thing now for 18 years. And I still haven't quite learned this lesson.

But I'm getting there.

You're about as cool as they come as far as I'm concerned. Just sayin'.

The students who don't appreciate you are losing out. Also just sayin'.

Thanks for your comments, they are much appreciated.

"yet given what Arts culture in Britain (and the Anglican tradition) comprise in our day, it does spark a bit of excitement."

I think the Arts culture in Britain and espECIALLY the Anglican tradition are experiencing a revival in a sense. A lot of new and interesting things happening there.

The thing about diminishing returns is they're never guaranteed. It might just pay off, which is what makes it worth it in the end. Besides, what about marginal returns and everyone knows it isn't a universal! To give up slowly and surely is more depressing than to let it all go at once. Because there's always hope, there's always possibility of greatness or achievement. I guess everyone forgets to be as graceful with one another as we all should be, and sorry if I've contributed to that.
